Innovation & Research
Explore what is next, test it cheaply, and build only what proves itself.
Overview
New technology arrives faster than most organisations can evaluate it. Our innovation practice exists to answer one question for you: is this worth building on, and if so, how? We research emerging tools, build quick experiments and give you a clear recommendation backed by working evidence.
We work in short, bounded cycles. Instead of a year-long programme, you get a series of small bets: a two-week spike, a four-week prototype, a go/no-go decision. This keeps cost low, learning high, and stops promising ideas from stalling in endless planning.
When an idea does prove itself, we can carry it forward: turning the prototype into a product, shaping the business case, and building the team and architecture to scale it.
Typical cycle
2-6 week experiments
Output
Working prototype and recommendation
Model
Staged go / no-go decisions
Scope
AI, Web3, IoT, edge and beyond
Key Benefits
Early access to what works
We track and test new technology so you adopt it when it is ready, not too early and not too late.
Cheap, fast validation
Prove or kill an idea with a prototype before committing full budget and headcount.
Evidence over hype
Recommendations come with working code, measured results and honest limitations.
Shorter time to market
Prototypes are built with a path to production, so winners do not need to be rebuilt from scratch.
Strategic clarity
Technology roadmaps tied to your business goals, with clear priorities and trade-offs.
Capability transfer
Workshops and pairing leave your team better equipped to evaluate and adopt technology themselves.
What We Build
Emerging Technology Research
Structured investigation of new tools, standards and platforms, with written findings and a clear verdict.
Proof of Concept Development
Rapid working prototypes that test the riskiest assumption first, typically delivered in weeks.
Product Incubation
Taking a validated concept through user research, MVP build and early launch.
Technical Due Diligence
Independent assessment of technology, architecture and teams for investors, partners and acquirers.
Technology Strategy & Roadmaps
Prioritised plans for adopting AI, blockchain, cloud and automation aligned to business outcomes.
Innovation Workshops
Facilitated sessions to generate, score and shortlist ideas with your leadership and domain experts.
Market & Competitor Analysis
Landscape reviews to position new products and spot gaps worth building into.
Partnerships & Pilots
Structuring pilots with technology vendors, universities and industry partners.
Use Cases
Evaluating generative AI for operations
Test where language models genuinely cut cost or improve quality, and where they fall short.
Web3 and decentralisation strategy
Assess whether tokenisation or decentralised identity creates real advantage for your model.
IoT and edge computing pilots
Prototype sensor networks and on-device intelligence for monitoring and automation.
Next-generation security
Investigate post-quantum cryptography readiness and zero-trust architectures.
Startup MVP incubation
Turn a validated idea into a launched first product with lean teams and fast feedback.
Investor technical diligence
Review a target company's architecture, code quality and scalability risks.
How We Work
- 1
Frame
Define the question, the success criteria and the constraints, so the experiment tests something that matters.
- 2
Explore
Research the landscape, shortlist options and identify the riskiest assumptions.
- 3
Prototype
Build the smallest working version that can confirm or disprove those assumptions.
- 4
Evaluate
Measure results against the criteria with your stakeholders and make an honest go / pivot / stop call.
- 5
Scale or close
Carry successes into product development, and document learnings from the rest so nothing is wasted.

Ways to Work With Us
Research spike
A short, fixed-fee investigation that ends in a written recommendation.
Prototype sprint
A four to six week build to validate a specific concept.
Innovation partnership
A continuing programme of experiments and incubation with a shared roadmap.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if the experiment fails?
That is a valid and valuable outcome. A clear 'no' that cost a few weeks is far cheaper than a failed full build, and we document what we learned.
Who owns the prototype and IP?
You do. Work produced for you is yours, and we agree terms up front for any pre-existing tools we reuse.
Can a prototype become a real product?
Yes. We build prototypes with a route to production in mind, and can continue into full development if the results justify it.
Do you work with early-stage startups?
Yes. We work with founders and established organisations alike, scaling the engagement to suit budget and stage.
